TIL that eating Peanut Butter before Bed helps you burn Fat!

in #til8 years ago (edited)

Today I learned that apparently, having Peanut Butter before Bed can help you burn fat.

WHAT?

That sounds like the best fact ever!

... Well, not so fast.

First of all, you wouldn't lose 10 pounds overnight without doing anything else to lose weight. It's just not as simple as that, sorry !

A study has conducted though, that the monounsaturated fat in peanuts (and therefore, peanut butter) may improve your metabolism

And you metabolism is what controls how many calories you burn throughout the day - even when you're just sitting or sleeping.

BUT this effect only applies to PEANUTS.

So regular Peanut Butter like Skippy, which has a lot of added fat and sugar, would be counter productive.

An organic peanut Butter only made from peanuts would be the only kind that applies to this effect!

Sort:

Peanuts and peanut butter are high in carbs and calories...
I don't see how eating this would help you burn more besides the extra calories you just put into your body...

that'S actually really interesting, now it'S also my TIL for the day!

sounds like the perfect excuse to have some Peanut Butter ice cream after dinner :D

you'd probably have to eat a massive amount of raw peanutbutter to actually have an effect!

I LOVE peanut butter

hahaha, you got me !! When I first read the headline I was like "Whaaaaat?"

Mmmmmm I LOVE peanut butter !!!

I'm in a forum with a lot of people who eat Coconut Butter, which is also high in monounsaturated fats. We have all learned not to eat it at night, because it really does increase your metabolism noticeably, so much so that it can be hard to sleep. But, yeah, you don't want to use PB that has sugar in it. Completely stops your fat burning mechanism by turning off glucagon production and increasing insulin production.

If you eat nothing through the day but a spoonful of peanut butter before bed, you will surely get skinny.
