RE: Some Things to Avoid When You're New to Steem
Very wonderful read. I believe more of the newer steemians should read this. I for one never signed up for steemit thinking I was going to make huge rewards every post. Trust me, I saw the payouts. I just saw BIG potential. Funny thing is, I discovered STEEM 3 weeks before I discovered steemit. I was already hooked to STEEM, it was more valuable to me than steemit was. Steemit then was just my virtual holding spot. But then I started looking around steemit's community and how it all worked, I now see steemit (the community of users) as worth more than STEEM was.
I get steemit. I am seeing long term here! Things just take time to grow, and I get that. Thanks again for an informative read.
Where there is a community, there is value. We have a growing community here so better believe the value will increase ;)
I observed and learned many things my first 3 weeks. The community is what convinced me to stick around, while investing more of my money into steemit itself. I also see the unlimited possibilities that steemit does have. I love steemit so much, I've only been on FB 1 since Dec 6, and that was me popping in to invite others over to here.
That's great! While FB is still a great tool to use, I haven't been on there much. Just to share Steemit posts on FB if anything :P
I find Steemit is a great "gateway drug" to the crypto space... An example of this is I got my 70 year old mom interested in crypto by getting her onto Steemit. She now uses the platform daily and is getting quite good at it for the most part. At first she didn't understand what Steem or SBD or any of that meant, she just used it as a platform to post things she found interesting, and this took away the "financial gains" aspect of thinking which for the most part was a good thing (she didn't care how much steem she got from her efforts as she didn't even understand what it was at the time). Now that she has been doing it for a while she understand its all fully, and now understands that her natural effort done in the past does have a value and is surprised by it still to this day (but again counts any gains as a happy bonus at best, and is not to be expected).
I wish I found Steemit ages ago (been on it for 7 or 8 months now) as I love the platform in general.
Too cool that your grandmother is an avid user. I just started yeterday and I'm still reading as much info as I can. This is my introduction into the crypto world.
If you have any crypto or steemit questions just shoot it into one of my posts as a comment and Ill be glad to help out if I can. Oh and welcome to Steemit!
Thanks bro I appreciate it.
Same here! Feels like diving into a pretty deep pool, but I've found tons of useful posts from genuinely engaging, kind, and helpful people, just like this one! I am just starting to learn about everything crypto too, and knowing there are others in my same spot and many willing to share their knowledge makes the process feel much less daunting.
It sure does.
