Tour the Serbia - Tara Mountain
The mass of the Tara Mountains is located in western Serbia, in the northwestern part, surrounded by the deep canyon of the Drina river, while its branches reach the Kremen valley and the valley of the river Đetinje, where it relies on branches of Zlatibor. The area of the Tara mountain constitutes the westernmost group from the group of Starovlaško-Raške mountains and, in a wider sense, consists of three sub-continents, somewhat separated by river valleys, bends or saddles.
Tara in the narrow sense or Ravna Tara is part of the massif with Kaludjerski bars and limestone plateau between the following rivers: Drina, Rača, Konjska reka, Beli Rzav and Derventa (peak Assembly 1,544 m).
The Black Peak is located between the dry border of Serbia and Bosnia and between the Zaovina and Rastište villages. In relation to Ravna Tara on the road Cemerište, and with Zvijezda on the sedan Predov Krst (peak Kozji rid 1.591 m).
Zvijezda is located in the triangle between the villages Rastište and Jagoštica and the canyon part of the Drina River (the Big Region is 1,444 m).
With these parts, the unique physical-geographical area is made up of the Great Stolac (1,673 m), which is in Bosnia and at the same time the highest peak of the whole area.
On the basis of many years of research and research in this area, in order to protect the exceptional natural values that it possesses, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia proclaimed the special law area in 1981.
Tara Mountain is a well-known and traditional summer and winter recreation area. Favorable climatic conditions, large number of sunny days, average height about 1000 meters above sea level. Below the northern slopes of the Tara lies the town of Bajina Basta.
Tara Mountain has been studied by many scientists. The first one was Josif Pančić, who discovered this endemic species on this mountain in 1875, called Pančić's omelette. The famous mountaineer Dr Kuno Vidrić, who has been accelerating almost all the more important mountains of Europe, spent most of his time on Tara marking the hiking trails and collecting material for several books on this beautiful mountain.
