Venna Lake was built by Shri Appasaheb Maharaj who was the ruler of Satara in the year 1942. The lake is spread over an area of 28 acres with a periphery of 7 to 8 km.
The lake was initially built with the aim of catering to the water needs of the city of Mahabaleshwar. The lake has thirths submerged to nearly 1 to 2 km. Chhatrapati Pratapsihn Garden is present on the banks of the lake.

How To Reach Mahabaleshwar
The three places from where one can reach Mahabaleshwar are Satara, Pune and Mumbai. Satara being the central place. Mahabaleshwar is well connected by Mumbai-Pune highway, and therefore one can fly down to Mumbai or Pune and reach Mahabaleshwar via road. One can also board a train from Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai to reach Satara and then take a private vehicle or tourist vehicles to reach Maharashtra. Travelling is not a problem as it is well connected via main cities.
