White Beans With Meat
White beans with meat is the traditional Turkish dish. If you’re vegetarian, just skip the meat stage. The vegetarian version is just as tasty. In this way you can use more pepper.
Serve with rice or bulgur pilaf, especially on top of rice.
Ingredients:
2 cups white beans
150 gr. beef or lamb meat, cut in cubes
1 onion, chopped
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 green pepper, chopped
1 medium tomayo, peeled and diced
1+3/4 cup hot water
Salt

Wash white beans, placed them in a pot and cover with water. Leave them in water overnight. The next day, drain and boil in a pot for about 25-30 minutes. The whitebeans shoul be soft but not mushy after boiling.
In other pot, saute mat with oil until they are brown. Then add onions and saute 3-4 minutes over medium heat. Stir in pepper, tomato and tomato paste. Add hot water and salt. Simmer until the meat is soft. Add cooked white beans to the pot. Simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. If necessary add a little bit more hot water. Serve with rice or bulgur pilaf.
