Poem of the Navigator
In transhuman space there are many realities, an open mind will tell you so.
We go together to prepare the way.
We are encased in the amber of our own experience.
I consider myself to be self-aware because there is a persistent and familiar pattern of thought and emotional experience that I think of as myself. That is also my best understanding of consciousness.
Oh Absalom, my Absalom
Within your cruel multiverse
Scientists sing in fear
Beholden to no God are they
Oh Absalom, my Absalom
Behind your literate babel
Philosophers chime the liturgy
Beholden to no One are they
Oh Absalom, my Absalom
Above your staccato bytes
Mathematicians paint the score
Creating the Next are they
What spark is this
This life, this consciousness
The people ask
Who is there to hear?
Short form:
"Can consciousness could be wholly described in physical terms, such as the aggregation of neural processes in the brain?
Yes or No "
My answer: We don't know, and we may never know.
More importantly, do we need to know to decide whether the reduction of unnecessary suffering for all sapients and sentients is a direction we should go.
Off topic interlude:
If we could see them, what color would gamma rays be.
Interlude finis.

What we are, what the world is, what the cosmos is, those are the things we have to work with.
What we aspire to as a species, as a sentient, as a lifeform, those are the things that give us hope and purpose.
