THE TOWER OF BABEL

You guys know the story of Genesis.

There was one language, and we built a tower to reach the heavens and make a name for ourselves. So the Lord scattered us over the face of the whole earth. As so the story goes.

The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to 

do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let 

us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

WHY WE NEED DECENTRALIZED PEER-TO-PEER TRANSLATIONS

I never understood this story and I still don't. 

We've been told that God has a higher purpose and sometimes we can't understand everything, and therefore we need to have faith. 

Don't get me wrong, guys. I am a man of faith. I respect the many different types of languages and cultures, and I love learning from our differences. But I also believe that there is a strong need for better communication. The more we understand each other, the more we can come together to solve some of our greatest challenges, and the more we discover the unknown possibilities.

As a former translator officer in the Republic of Korea Air Force, I spent a lifetime helping others communicate, understand, and adapt to different environments. But over the years recently, i've realised the amount of information and data being generated over the internet is growing exponentially. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that, except that the information is still trapped within the English speaking countries.

Although we have tools such as Google Translate, Trados Translations Software programs and many other things like that,  in my opinion guys, it will never resolve the issues with our language barriers. Which led me to think that the best thing we have, is each other. We now have the tools and the distributed trust network that will allow us to incentivise every person who contributes to the network. And we don't have all kinds of intermediation bullsh*t fees that disallows for micro, cross-border, digital, 21st-century-style payments.

I also believe that STEEMIT has the potential to become one of the most innovative decentralized platforms of our time. But in order to realize its full potential, we need to figure out a way to deal with translations. I think STEEMIT can be an incredible testbed for decentralized p2p translations. I know many people in my country who are really excited to get involved, but doesn't have the English speaking abilities to participate in this revolutionary movement. I want to see that change for the better. If you guys have any ideas, please share.

Also, I want to do a simple experiment before I wrap up. Let's see how many languages we can translate this into. Please translate the following in your own language. I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.
