Salt Lake City Travel Guide

Salt Lake City is the main city of the American state of Utah. It got its name because of the neighborhood with a unique natural monument - the huge Salt Lake. The city is surrounded by mountains, such as Okuir, Osach and Travers, on its southern entrance is a fresh lake Utah.

Its foundation belongs to the Mormons who arrived in this region in the middle of the nineteenth century. The influence of Mormons here is still very large, but gradually the number of people leaning towards this religious trend is decreasing.

The main attraction of the city is its religious and historical center, where the main place is occupied by the central Temple. This huge complex is considered sacred among Mormons. By the way, the headquarters of the Mormon church is located behind the high walls of the temple complex.

In addition to it, in the territory of the Central Temple there is a huge conference hall for meetings, a gallery of religious sculptures, reception points for pilgrims and several historical sights of the nineteenth century. Only Mormons are allowed in here.

Near the central square there is another landmark of the city - the Museum of the History of the Church and Art , it displays pictures of local and world artists, as well as historical documentation telling us about the first inhabitants of the region.

Next to the museum is the main library of the city , the entrance here is absolutely free for all comers. Be sure to explore the local Capitol , the copper dome of which can be seen in almost any part of the city. To the east of it is the “Grove of Memory” , where a sculptural memorial dedicated to veterans of Utah is installed.

Nearby is a unique museum dedicated to the pioneers of the state . It can trace the history of Utah from its inception to the present day, as exhibits are old photographs, various household items, clothing and personal belongings of state residents.

It is also worth visiting the Planetarium , the Fort Douglas Museum and the Hoogle Zoo . In the past, the busiest place in Salt Lake City was Trolley Square , where the local market was located, where brisk trade took place from morning to night. Here you could buy everything: from the thread and ending with the plantation. Now in Trolls Square are cafes, boutiques and art galleries.

The climate of the region is semi-desert. Summer is long and hot, the average temperature is + 32 ° C. Precipitation often falls in the spring. Winters are moderately cold, mountains serve as a barrier to cool continental air. Snow here can appear from November to April.
