Adventures in the UK: So Much More Than Just Cities

in #travel7 years ago

When you think of the UK, what’s the first thing that springs to mind? Perhaps the vibrant city of London brimming with royal buildings, or maybe Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff or Glasgow with their shops, nightlife, festivals and general excitement.

There truly are some amazing cities in the UK. Each of them is well worth a visit if you get the chance. However, there’s more to England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales than just their large cities. The UK is home to lots of awesome locations that are just as spectacular as the big built up areas.

Beaches

Due to the temperamental British weather, the UK might not be your first choice if you want a tropical beach holiday. However, with that being said, there are some lovely beaches in the UK and during the summer there are often spells of very hot weather. The British seaside is perfect for enjoying fish and chips or an ice cream, making sandcastles and enjoying games on the beach. If you're down south in England on a hot day, take a trip down to the coast!

Lochs and Lakes

If you're in Scotland, the large lakes are known as lochs. These bodies of water are incredible, as well as giving you fantastic photo opportunities you can go swimming, boating, fishing, bird watching, try your hand at different water sports and much more. You also have the Lake District in northern England which is home to lakes, mountains and beautiful scenery. Throughout the rest of the UK, you have Bala Lake in Wales, Coniston Water in England and Loch Neagh in Northern Ireland amongst others. If you want to get out on the waters then these could all be good options

Countryside

There are tonnes of incredible places in the country you can visit throughout the UK, so if rolling hills, greenery and tranquility is your kind of thing then you're in luck. Outside if the big cities you can explore quaint villages, take a walk along rivers, through the woods, meadows and more. How about an afternoon tea in a tea room, or a gastropub for some hearty pub grub. Derbyshire is home to lots of countryside, views and country events- you could stay somewhere like the Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club if this is a part of England that appeals to you. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales all have their share of spectacular scenery that's well worth checking out.

Parks

The National Trust is a conservation organization and charity. They have parked in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland and work to protect and preserve beautiful historic places. If you're in the UK these are some of the most stunning places to visit. There are a number of parks and historic houses that you can look around. Many of these offer things like galleries, exhibitions, and events so check to see what's on when you visit. Otherwise, you could just browse, take some photographs, observe the gorgeous scenery and wildlife. The perfect want to enjoy completely unspoiled views.

Where would you most like to go and visit in the UK?

The weather tempermental, everyone agrees, it seems, because several of my mentors are graduates of British universities and certainly say, and well, I would love to explore their fields that through the different platforms show to be true beauties @adonisabril

A wonderful option, through his photos only transmits tranquility, energy to strengthen the spirit to continue fighting from day to day, thank you for sharing.

The UK is interesting in that it almost has an unlimited circumference given that it is mostly coastline.
