#31 : Venice, Italy

Venice is a world known for its palaces, canals and gondoliers. It is also famous for intricately made Venetian masks, enjoying great popularity among tourists, the magnificent Venetian carnival, almost to the carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the life story of the local seducer of all time - Casanova, St Mark's Square, Canale Grande or the annual International Film Festival held in September. Venice has gained worldwide fame thanks to a certain phenomenon. Well, for many years regularly falls in the shallow lagoon in which it is embedded. According to the tests carried out, an average of 2 mm per year! Unfortunately, all attempts to stop this process, as it has been so far, have turned out to be a fiasco. For this reason, with the current speed of descent of the city and the increase in the water level, it can be expected that in the next 20 years Venice will drop by as much as 80 mm in relation to the sea level.
