How can a traveler spend the night in Indonesia? Hammock

in #travel6 years ago

hammok

Hammock is a versatile tool for organizing a berth.
Indonesia has a comfortable architecture for organizing a berth with a hammock.

Pros:

  • Protection from ants, snakes, small animals.
  • With proper tension, comfortable body position during sleep.
  • Soothing wiggle.

Minuses:

  • It requires responsibility, because due to a mistake, there is a chance of falling.
  • Over time, the rope deteriorates.
  • Sometimes it is not suitable for people with a large weight (mount on the branches of trees).
  • You need a suitable place.

Search for a place.

It is necessary to find a roof with columns, in Indonesia there is a real abundance of this kind of buildings.

It can be gazebos, verandas of houses, balconies, canopies on the beaches for storing mattresses / sun loungers, parking.
If you are sure that there will be no rain, then of course trees will do.

General recommendations.

If you are in a habitable area, you must choose a place in advance for the future sleeping station and start organizing it is desirable in the evening, waiting for the locals to leave the area of visibility. Thereby not attracting unwanted attention or curiosity. Do not sleep more than twice in one place (golden rule).

Always check the strength of attachment points, knit control knots. Test the finished system for dynamic loads.

Asia is a relatively safe place, but it is better to be safe and secure the backpack so that it cannot be removed without loosening the fastening system. If someone try to steal, you will be more likely to wake up from the vibrations of the suspension system.

Check the place of possible landing (in case of a failure in the fastening system) for the absence of sharp objects.

I think it's most likely doable in the beach and the jungle. If it's habitable place, maybe school or some abandoned place. But generally the locals are very curious about stranger :D Nonetheless, those are very useful tips. I'll try that in my future travel since I kinda miss the beach so bad :-)

Safe travels!

Thanks! Usually the locales looked at my tent/hammock in amazement. After that, they offered to spend the night in their bamboo hut. This is also an option for finding accommodation in Indonesia)

Hehe True, it's common gesture for the locals, I have been offered several times. Safe trip!
