One of the Best Hotel in the World
For last two years, Indonesia’s Nihiwatu hotel is ranked as the No. 1 hotel in the world according to Travel and Leisure’s annual world’s best hotels list.
The resort is situated on the Indonesian island of Sumba which is approximately 250 miles east of Bali. The hotel comprises of traditional Sumbanese artwork and textiles in its private estates and villas. There has been a private pool in each hotel room according to hotel’s website.
This hotel offers world-class surfing, horseback riding, yoga classes, fishing, and spa services with 436 acres of protected tropical forest.

Nihiwatu hotel has traditional thatched-roofs homes with accommodations range from a tree house served with Bamboo Bridge to one- bedroom villa in outdoor jungle shower. It is known for its chocolate factory, incredible views and its high-end connection to its community.
Surfers found this Indonesian hotel in 1980 which is now a large traditional gateway. Nihiwatu also invests in the community that surrounds it. One of the major examples is Sumba Foundation, which is partially funded by hotels profit committed to supporting community-based projects. The hotel employs 90% work force of Sumbanese population and its foundation involved in the projects like health and education on the island.
