There are some common scams in Thailand.

  1. Riding TukTuk:
TukTuk is a nice soundless romantic 3 wheeler vehicle in Thailand. But if you want to hire a TukTuk, you must bargain and fix the fair first. If you don't, you have to pay double or four times more than the legal fair.

The Driver will insist you to do shopping from some markets. If you do shopping from there, the shop kipper will take higher price from you, because the driver will take commission after you.
So, be careful about TukTuk.

  1. When you will visit the place like "The Grand Palace", some people will tell you that the palace is closed today. If you pay 500baht more, you can visit right now.

Don't pay any hid to them. Simply go to into the gate, enter the palace take your ticket and visit.

Short dress like short pant, swimming costume, or short tops, you are not permitted to go inside because it is their holy place.

Some people will ask you money for the dress. Don't pay them. There you can get proper dress to go inside. You have to pay 200baht for the dress. But after your visit when you will give the dress back, they will refund your deposited money.

  1. There are a lot of shops from where from you can hire a motorcycle for 1/2/3... days. Before hiring a motor bike or car, They might ask your passport. Don't give your passport to anyone. Give the photocopy.
Before hiring your bike or car, take a video or still pictures of from every part of the bike or car. Otherwise when you will back the bike or car, the owner will claim that you made this scratch, this thing, that thing and ask you to pay extra money to repair those things.

  2. If someone ask you to show him your countries currency to him, don't show your wallet and money to him, It's a trick to snatch your money.

5.If you don't have international driving license, Don't drive bike. Otherwise Thai police will ask you 2000-5000 baht as bribe.
