Travelling in southern part of northern SwedensteemCreated with Sketch.

A few weeks ago I travelled a bit up north in Sweden. In this post I tell a bit of the trip and show you some photos.

If looking at a map it is actually the middle of Sweden but since the population is mostly located in southern Sweden everything a bit north of Stockholm is considered as the northern Sweden. This usually triggers the people actually living in northern Sweden pointing out that it actually is the middle of Sweden. Well, now when that's said I can tell you a bit about the trip.

The reason for the trip was recreation and hiking in the mountains. The mountains here aren't very high, a few peaks around 1200 meters. But the nature is very beautiful.

Reindeer

The area is the southest part where the Sami people live, the Scandinavian native population (of course they nowdays live all over the world like the rest of us, but you know what I mean).

A traditional occupation for Sami people is reindeer herding. At least in the summer it is very common to see reindeers just anywhere you go.

You need to keep attention when driving because suddenly they are close to the road.

They are popular among the tourists.

Hiking

I only did day hikes and slept in a hotel apartment. There are a few hikes that are pretty steep but they are on the other hand not that long.

There's plenty of opportunities to fill up drinking water, which by the way tastes delicious.

Having a coffee break at a 1200 meter peak.

During the winter this area is a place for skiing and there are a few skiing resorts with well equipped cabins that can be rented for reasonable prices during the summer.

Mountain biking, trail running and other such activities are also popular here.
Highly recommended for families as well as single travellers.

The place is called Idre and the skiing resort where I stayed is called Idre fjäll

Jag har precis publicerat detta:

Det handlar om att jag vill att vi svenskar på Steemit ska börja arbeta tillsammans kort och gott. Att använda taggen: #teamsweden när vi publicerar våra artiklar är första steget! :)

Bra initiativ!
