Swimming in the Mrežnica River - MyPictureDay Submission

Planning on having a weekend swim or just spend some time near water? Instead of visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park what everyone does go to the River Mrežnica instead. Be cool. Be different.
It is quite near Karlovac. Little over an hour drive from Zagreb, the capital.
One of the cleanest flowing natural waters in the whole country! Rich flora and fauna!
I wanted to swim up to a secluded area in the river itself and take some photos but I was afraid of getting my phone wet! My girlfriend said I was crazy and that I should stop thinking in Steemit colors all the time :)
It is amazing that you are actually able to swim up the little waterfalls and get a nice clean, refreshing massage by the water-flow! I don’t understand how is this not more popular.
A simple guide in 5 steps:
take your family tent
put it on a meadow next to the Zeleni Kut - a family B&B. The view from the place:
- have lunch there - one of the best pizza I’ve tasted. Fresh toppings and lots of them. Budget prices. Healthy options available too!
jump in the river and dive in a myriad of fish and other cool creatures.
open a beer
Bliss!
Locals say that a day spent on the Mrežnica River is one day of life more!

I like fresh and salt water for swimming but I lean more towards fresh water. It's more refreshing I'd say.

That's what makes life worth living, right there. The beer is just an accessory at that point. As long as it is light and refreshing, I don't think you could make a bad choice.
