Some history of my hometown of Merida Yucatan

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Two thousand years ago the city centre of my home town was home to Mayan ruins, in in the 14 hundreds my ancestors came and wreaked havoc on the Mayans (which I an ashamed of) and built their homes and the city we know today. This first picture is the door to the home of Montejo who founded the city33440950-912C-4116-97E1-7DDFC2962189.jpeg

His home is now a museum and its free to go in and look. There is a street that is a few miles long right outside the city centre which is called Paseo de Montejo, there are mansions all up and down the street which are fashioned out of Paris streets
Here are a couple mansions on that street463F3AF1-D579-4394-AAFF-A0E4F704EEBA.jpeg That one is my favorite here is another oneE5CE044F-3D68-4938-BA33-1A722905B5F3.jpeg

This was a wonderful introduction of your hometown! You must be very proud to life on a place that is so old and so full of history! Would be nice visiting Merida one day ... Thank you for your post!

If you ever go let me know my family will take you around to the best places, I have thirteen siblings there, thank you for dropping by!!❤️

It is a beautiful city. The theatre looks amazing. I would love to go there. The central court yard with rooms around the outside is very old Spanish colonial style. We have some buildings like this in Nicaragua. They are very beautiful.

Yes when you go through the doors you get a big surprise, you think the place is going to be small from the outside and its huge! I should have known you were Spanish with the name ceci is it short for Cecilia like me? Thanks for dropping in! Always a pleasure❤️

Nope. Just plain Ceci. My great grandmother was Spanish.

Wow good post history

Thank you for the virtual tour, Ceci! Your incredible images look as if they could be from Trip Advisor @cecirod1218 and I loved your narrative! Upvoted and Resteemed!💯
