7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #74 - winner announcement!

@gunnarheilmann Australian Monday entry:

This Boab Tree is located just a few kilometers from Emma Gorge at El Questro on Gibb River Road in Western Australia. There is no Light Polution at all.
On of the hotest nights i ever spent Light Painting. 39.5° C 2AM - impossible to sleep full on sweaty sleeping on the car in the middle of f-ing nowhere. Anyhow the photo was totally worth it. This Boab Tree was so impressive and also noisy. What you cant see nor hear are all the frogs that were sitting in that tree. So cool. What you see here is a 40sec. exposure and i run with my colored flash lights towards the tree and shine at the ground first then the tree second. If you look closely you can also see my feet. I think it adds some organic texture and makes it more real than just some photoshopped effect. FYI > The huge bright spot next to the tree is not the moon. That is Saturn!

@bluebottlefilms Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Those magical mornings when you wake up and look outside and realise the beauty of what’s passing by. Antarctica truly does blow the mind. One of the last truely untouched parts of our planet.

I came across this hippopotamus when we pulled our boat up to a bank in the Chobe River in Botswana.
It was so amazing to see these guys in the wild and out of the water. There was so many of them along the rivers edge and in the water. But this guy was just grazing on the lush green grass before I interrupted him for a photo 😊

This is my entry!
A small walk through the desert can serve to clear ideas. Our passage through the desert of Merzouga left us with incredible views, it was the first time we were there and, everything seemed like a movie!

Rock Window in Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco

The houses in the UNESCO world heritage village Ait Ben Haddou in Morocco are built out of rocks and mud bricks. With the lack of modern comforts and an increase in tourism, only few of the houses are still inhabited.

Citadel of Qaitbay

Bright sunny morning in Alexandria near Citadel of Qaitbay. Nice view with some local colorful fishing boats. Pity we spent there only half a day and wasn't really able too see most of the sightseeing

Quote from WIKI:
The Citadel of Qaitbay is a 15th-century defensive fortress located on the Mediterranean sea coast, in Alexandria, Egypt. It was established in 1477 AD by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa'it Bay. The Citadel is situated on the eastern side of the northern tip of Pharos Island at the mouth of the Eastern Harbour.

Enjoy the scenery!

My Entry for African wednesday.

Zebra playing with his sheep buddies on the Karoo plains

This was also just posted on my profile. This pic was taken with a drone while traveling through the Karoo in South Africa, caught these unlikely buddies hanging out together and playing, capture a few of these shot and this one I think came out quite nicely.

Merely looking at the structure, one will think that it's just a heap of sand but you will be amazed that it's a home for people living within the environment, less costly to build and in fact many of the elders bragged with them during their youthful lives that they had an expensive home and some even still does till now in northern part of Nigeria.

This is another view of this awesome river in Abuja, Nigerian. Many of the residents around there fish for a living, riding on canoes from one spot to the other. It's also a means of transport to while trying to avoid traffic by road.

The funeral complex of Djoser, in Saqqara, Egypt is not too far from Cairo city. We can see the Giza pyramids in the background. The pyramid here is not as impressive but the site is full of history since it marks an important evolution of monumental architecture evolving since the 2nd Dynasty.

We visited the Black Panter Boxing Gym (no h) which helps kids of the Jamestown neighborhood of Accra to have something to do after school and gives them a different perspective for their future. This school produced many Ghanaian champions.
