traveling in Nagoya 名古屋 day 1
In last August, I planned a family trip of 10 people to Nagoya, Japan. I had been to Japan before but I had my friends to organize and planned the trip for me. This time I was the tour guide and I needed to plan trip and brought them to the destination. It was very tiring and challenging, but I could experience much more.
Osu Shopping Arcade＆Osu Kannon Temple(大須観音)
We arrived pretty late and most places closed before 5. I decided to bring them to 大須観音 as our first destination because we are all Buddhist. I drop some coins into a money box and asked a local guy how to swing the big rope like what I always see Japanese did on TV.
We then visit the shopping arcade. Most stores started closing at 7 and there is not much left for us to see. We first bought some ice cream, it was delicious. Unlike the regular cone we usually have here, it was pretty soft and sweet. The ice cream melt very fast and we had to finish it soon.
We went to a 100 yen store but my family was obsessed with it. most of the items were made in China and I could not comprehend why wasting time, money and effort carrying it back to buy things we didn't need simply because it was cheaper.
I did buy a few things though. a telescope which I thought I would use it a lot in this trip but turn out to be a mistake. A blue box that you can wear on your neck. super useful to carry the train ticket.
After we came out from the 100 yen store, we saw a long bamboo with water flowing. There should be a Nagashi-sōmen earlier but we missed it.

at the end of the day, I was searching for the way of payment accepted in Japan convenient store. I was hoping to see things like bitcoin or Nem but I didn't see any.
The only things that I found being closed were bitcash . It seems to be a wallet for JYP like wechat for RMB in China.

Sounds like you had a good trip, hope your family can be inspired to keep travelling and maybe you do not have to be the tour guide next time.
no way I would be the tour guide again, not for 10 people. People are hard to please
Sounds like you had fun. I love Osu and go there as often as I can, which tends to be at least once every few months.
You have to be careful with those ¥100 shops. Cheap things (cheap in quality too) but ¥100 does add up quickly. Everyone I know (Japanese and expat, both) has spent hundreds of dollars on worthless things from ¥100 shops.
Oy—How I wish for bitcoin at the konbini. I don't think that's anything we will be seeing here for a very long time.

yeah, agreed. My aunt and cousin bought some towel and I was confused , like why~~ They spent so much time shopping. We went there again on our last day and they keen to went back to spend another hour there to buy more stuff. Funny things was we had something similar in our building here in HK.
haha I know crazy, isn't it? The ¥100 shops do great business, so everyone is equally attracted to them. I'm not sure why. I guess it is the idea that we are getting a good value (the reality is we aren't, but that feeling persists)
