Romania Travel Tip: #2 Transfagarasan Road
Welcome to my blog, where i try to promote some of the most beautiful places, architectural sites and nature wonders of my homeland, Romania.
The main purpose is to make Romania your travel destination in the near future.
If i manage that, then my mission is complete
This is my #2 post of a Travel Tip series, and today i would like to show you the Transfagarasan Road
The Transfagarasan route is one of the most popular in Romania, and even in Europe, due to the height it was built, the beautiful landscapes and numerous serpentines. The road is spectacular because it crosses the mountains of Fagaras, the highest mountains in our country, so the Transfagarasan reaches an altitude of 2042 meters

Also known as DN7C, the Transfagarasan road connects Transylvania to Muntenia and is 92 km long, due to the numerous serpentines, the average speed is 40 km / h.

The spectacular road was built between 1970-1974, with immense efforts from soldiers and workers who managed to create a path in the heart of the mountains. Many lost their lives; the official number was 40 dead, but people who worked on this road tell the fact that the number of deaths is hundreds.

Among the landmarks of Transfagarasan are Lake Balea and Balea Waterfall, Vidraru Lake and Dam, Capra Waterfall, the Capra Lake and the Poenari Fortress. To this is added the Ice Hotel at Balea Lac, opened only during the winter
