I agree safety is important. Though I am generally not scared, my friend went to Lagos last month and he said he needed armed escort even during the day. Doesn't sound cheap necessarily. Has the OP been to any of these destination? What is the source of this list?
Good point, however it depends on the person life style . I went on holiday to Lagos last year and it was very peaceful and I enjoyed myself without the need for any armed escort...of course you can take armed escort if you want, just as you can go with armed escort in most cities in the United States due to drugs dealers and gangstars
