A 2500 Kilometer Roadtrip with the moon of my life, my star and my savior
Roadtrips are awesome, as I've said in one of my other posts before. However, they are even more awesome when you're with the love of your life, your soulmate, and strawberries and are in a car that you love driving.
When I say star, I mean @taraamin77, whose name literally means star, and she also happens to be the love of my life. Damnn, so technically, I'm in love with a star. Isn't that all you need, apart from a house and a car or two or three or four and food. I said the moon of my life in the title because we love Game of Thrones and she made me watch it and I thank her for that. She was also there for me during my difficult times and helped me a lot, that's why she's my savior. Moving on!!!
We embarked on a 2500 kilometer roadtrip, not knowing what it's going to be like. It was our first long roadtrip, and it was also supposed to bring us closer, as we'd been staying far for way too long and had come across some typical relationship and couple problems. We didn't really focus on the issues much, but that was because the trip was amazing.
How can you focus on things when the nature around you is so breathtaking and when you're driving through a TUNNEL with a car that has a loud exhaust and it sounds freaking amazing and your lady is brimming with joy as she's enjoying it as much as I am.
We had planned to go to Lonavala, a hill station in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. This place is beautiful, and has lots of lakes, and valleys, and waterfalls, and forts, and TUNNELS, and TWISTY roads and more. My aunt has a bungalow in one of the thousands of societies you'll find in Lonavala and that was where we stayed for the three nights.
We started from Mangalore, my Home town in Karnataka, and set off to Lonalava, which is about 860 kms away. The roads were amazing, and on the way we stopped at Maravanthe, Mirjan fort and a few other scenic spots. I'm not going to talk about the places we went to, that's her job, but I'll just talk about the journey.
I mentioned something about strawberries in the beginning of this post, well, that's because, as soon as we neared Lonavala, people near the tolls were selling strawberries. We decided to buy them later, once in the city, because these may not be good. Unfortunately, we only managed to get our hands on some berries when we left the city. They were pretty good and she enjoyed it a lot, I hope. I did!
The roads to Lonavala are mostly straight, with only a few kilometers of windy mountain roads. It was a tiring journey, and we were both very tired at the end of the first leg of the journey. My mother had prepared some food for the travel and we stopped under a tree to eat. Throughout the journey, we talked, laughed, made fun of things on the road, took pictures, listened to Starboy by The Weeknd like 15 times. You see, I am a Starboy, because I've got a star in my life! Boom!
We reached Lonavala late at night, and we were so tired that we just ate, showered, and went to bed. The bungalow was beautiful, and also a little scary. Next morning, we woke up reluctantly and set out for a trek to Rajmachi. However, the roads to Rajmachi were very very bad and meant only for jeeps. My Honda, which is pretty low, took a lot of damage and we had to move slowly to cover the distance. It was getting late and there was no one around, so we decided to go back.
On the way back, we stopped at a view point in Khandala and watched the sunset. I also have a timelapse of the sunset, which you can watch below. We ate some Gola, corn and a Kulfi, which was delicious, and also a Guava, and headed back. The next day, we went to a few more places, which she will talk about in her posts, and headed back home again.
Finally, on Sunday morning, we started to Bangalore, another 900 kilometers. The journey was good, but tiring, and we didn't have proper food, and the traffic was getting bad, and the AC in my car stopped working. We reached her place in Bangalore at around 1:30 AM and went straight to bed. Next day afternoon, I drove back to Mangalore, alone, another 350 kilometers and reached home at night.
Overall, this was an amazing roadtrip with my love @taraamin77, and I hope we have plenty more. I also hope that all our troubles disappear and we can live happily ever after. I'm sorry for annoying you, but who else will? :P I mean, relationships will always have its ups and downs, fights, troubles and different phases, but that's just a small part of it. At the end of the day, we're there for each other and that's what matters. Also, there's other awesome stuff and strawberries! After all, what is life without love and happiness and you and cars and travel. I'll tell you what it is, it's depressing. I can't wait to see you again and embark on another adventure.
Thank you for your time. Keep traveling, keep loving, keep smiling and keep STEEMING!
