Around Poland - city Krakow - landmark #1 Wawel
For the New Year's Eve, I was in Krakow, thanks to the journey I won in the prize game.
Krakow is the second largest city in Poland, it is located in the south of Poland, through it flows the river Wisla. You can say that Krakow is a city of young people because there are plenty of pubs and clubs, and also, more importantly, Krakow is a university city where more than 50000 students from all over the world are studying.
I was more than satisfied and now I will share with you a couple of pictures and something about one of the main attractions of Krakow.
It is about Vavel Hill, with the castle and the Vavel Cathedral on it. The first thing you can see when the bus is parked in the parking lot below Vavel beside Wisla is the Royal Castle.
As I walked past Wisla, I came across a monument to the dragon. This monument stands there because there is a legend that the dragon slept in a cave under the hill and had eaten every day for a woman from the city. The Krakov and Polish King said that whoever kills the dragon will give him the hand of his daughter. There are two legends about how the dragon has died. The first is that he ate the ovum with a tarragon and was poisoned, and the other was that after eating it he drank water from Wisla and that so many water droplets drowned. The monument itself is made to flash every 15 minutes.
When I climbed into the castle, I looked at Visla and the panorama of the city.
Then comes the Vavel to Cathedral, otherwise the third cathedral located at that place, the previous two were from the tree and burned in the fires in the 11th and 12th centuries. The cathedral it self is known for being the last point on the route of the kings. It was crowned by all Polish kings while Krakow was the capital of Poland. The cathedral is connected with a beautiful castle under the tombs of all Polish rulers from that time when Krakow was the capital of Poland.
A tour of this trap is possible with the help of local guide and we did not visit it because of the lack of money and time, we did not even enter the cathedral, the entrance is charged about 1 euro, and if someone wants to see the famous zigmund bell in the church It's paid for about 2euro. Only bell-free, because to ring it requires 12 people at least because the bell is hard for 15 tons. I'll share with you the picture of the cathedral looks outdoors.
If you are a fan of Harry Potter, do not miss the opportunity to visit Krakow in a cafe that is dedicated to Hari Poter and find in the pedestrian zone in Grocka Street. I was and I was delighted.
