Cheaper Alternative to Maldives : Bluewater Sumilon Island #Philippines

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

One of my ultimate dream is to get to visit Maldives and experience such luxurious kind of vacation. It has been famous for its prestine beaches having crystal clear waters and fine sand. Who wouldn't love that? It's completely relaxing to be at the beach as beautiful as those in Maldives but to be able to experience it all, one must have enough money to do so as it may hurt your wallet and cost you a lot. Sadly, I do not earn that much. ☹️

But guess what? I just found out that one does not need to go to Maldives just to experience this luxurious kind of vacation.

Situated at Southeastern tip of the Municipality of Oslob in Cebu, there is this breathtaking island where the water looks similar to that of Maldives: crystal clear and underneath is a fine sand. It's the Bluewater Sumilon Island.

During lowtide, there is a long stretch of sandbar that appears in the island. This is the best time to strike a pose and show off your favorite bikini/boardshorts and your oozing sexy body. Remember: Being confident is sexy 😉I happened to be there at almost noon time and there was no sandbar for me as it became high tide already but I still was able to enjoy the island because the water isn't too deep yet at some part where the sandbar is probably located.

We went snorkeling to see the beautiful corals and the many different kinds of fishes. If you're worrying about not having a life vest and snorkeling gears, don't worry as you can rent from the boatmen for only 50 pesos. We were lucky because we were also able to see a baby shark wandering and swimming with us in the shallow water! I was actually hesistant at first but our boatman insisted and ensure to us that there are no big sharks (You know the horror stories about sharks right?) in there and that these baby sharks are completely harmless. As per the boatman said, you don't always get to see a baby shark swimming in there. We didn't expect that so we're extremely happy!

(Look! It's the baby shark! )

If you would like to stay at the island for the night or even for days, you can stay at Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort. They are also offering other activities as well. But if you are on a tight budget, there are a lot of cheap accomodations within Tan-awan and other barangays in Oslob. Since we do not need to stay there for the whole day because we still have other itineraries to go to, we opt to stay at a travel Inn in Tan-awan. It was also a good choice because we went to whaleshark watching activity early in the morning before this. It costs us only P2500(roughly $50)for one night that is already good for 4 persons with breakfast included. From our Inn, we walked for about 3-5 mins going to the shore where the boat that will take us to Sumilon Island is waiting. We paid P450 each for the boat ride (that fee is already two-way).

If you haven't been to Sumilon Island yet, I strongly suggest that you take a visit at the island. You'll be mesmerized with it as soon as you land your eyes on it and that's for sure. If you've never been in love yet, well, it isn't so bad to be inlove with the beauty of nature.

Overall, I got one shade darker but we definitely had fun under the sun! 🌞✨
