Wonderful Wanderlust: 25 Indispensable Travel Tips 18-25

in #travel8 years ago

This is the end out our small travel tips series. We may place our Ebook here one chapter at a time later on once we find a way to make it possible. So please enjoy this free series, and we welcome your upvotes, and comments in support of our team. Your support makes it possible for us to get new photographs, supplies, and to write stories from all around the world.

Today the photographs are all related to different modes of travel. We wanted to give you an idea of how your backpack should be in size and weight based on the different types of adventure travel transportation you might enjoy all along the way. We have a more extensive audio book that will help you if you desire to purchase it at Audible --> Here

18. Use large backpacks to avoid checked baggage.

Checked baggage is expensive and cumbersome. It is also time consuming, since you have to check it at the counter and wait for it to appear on the luggage carousel. Save yourself the hassle by using a large backpack and packing light. Just make sure to leave banned items, such as liquids, at home and purchase them at your destination instead.

19. Zip lock bags solve lots of problems.

Zip lock bags are airtight and waterproof, making them extremely useful. They can protect electronics from rain, enclose food or smelly socks, or compartmentalize small supplies. Ensconce some in your luggage (they don’t take up much room) and reap the benefits.

20. When traveling in crowded disorganized cities, memorize key locations or landmarks.

Don’t zone out as you travel through hectic areas. Pay attention and remember distinctive landmarks; they will help you understand the layout of the city better so you are less apt to get lost. Point these features out to your travel partners as well. Designate a landmark as an emergency meeting spot if appropriate.

21. Use technology to keep you updated.

Stay informed about the political situation in the country you are in, just in case a volatile problem arises. The US Department of State and the CDC have alert services for this. Use a smartphone travel app to keep you updated.

If you are traveling in more than one country, use an app that lets you add your dates of travel in each country or simply update your location as you go. Leave the tracking program turned on in the phone so it tracks your location as you go.

22. Don't assume your cell phone will work.

We rely on our smartphones for so much that it’s easy to forget that they don’t always work. Your phone could be incompatible with your host country’s network, or WiFi might not be available. You could also drop or lose the phone altogether. Make prior arrangements so you can use your phone in case of emergency, and always have a backup plan. Print out necessities ahead of time. Carry old-fashioned maps.

23. Buy digital offline mapping software for your mobile phone or other device.

Some smartphone apps work even without cellphone or WiFi service. Find mapping software that works this way and download it for use during your trip. You can also bring another device, such as a GPS.

24. Download a translation app for your phone that works without WiFi or cellphone service.

Find a translation app that works without a WiFi or cellphone connection. Even if you study the local language, you will not be fluent and will need help with vocabulary.

25. Buy power adaptors and converters in advance.

Your electronics will be useless if you can’t charge them. Buy appropriate power adaptors (so you can plug your charger in) and converters (so your device doesn’t get fried) in advance. If you want to make friends, purchase a few extra adaptors and converters. These items are cheap if you order them online, and they can make a huge impact.

These 25 tips cover everything from communication to health to technology. Follow these and you are already well on your way to a wonderful travel experience. Forward this list to your travel companions and you will be even better off. Bon voyage!

Thank you it looks nice. The layout is much better.

We need everyone on the team to get up to this level of skill.

Ok shared out to about a million of our followers around the world. Hope to bring a few more over to join us here on steemit this time.

I highly recommend Maps.Me for a free Openstreetmaps offline map for your mobile phone :-)

Thank you for the input. We will post the whole book here, and some more feedback would be great.

Yes offline maps work good. But just old fashion maps still are king in our opinion. Online maps are only good if you have electricity, and sometimes we don't.
