Thanks @maxinpower. Glad you enjoyed my post. No worries there are still a fair few blogs in the pipe line about Japan. Absolutely!! Any other cool temples around Kyoto I may have missed?

If you get into the outskirts you will find a lot of small fine temples and shrines just off the beaten path. Need to check for some names, but one area definitely worth as visit is Arashiyama in the west. It has a big temple there too, an interesting bamboo grove and a pristine river side. It's pretty popular though
