Montessori Integrated School Upper Elementary Off-Camp 2018 @ Lola Corazon Leisure Farm
Mabuhay! This is my first official blog hope you like it :)
Every year, Montessori Integrated School arranges a camping activity for all grade levels as a culminating activity for their subject Practical Living which teaches students basic survival skills like knot tying, first-aid, and basic cooking. It also teaches students camping skills like tent pitching and fire making. As final exam for this subject, the advisers will organize a unique camping activity for each department.
- For Pre-school kids - Classnight at school
- For Lower Elementary pupils - Overnight at school (1st day), Off-campus activity (2nd day)
- For Upper Elementary pupils - 2 days 1 night off-campus camping activity
- For High school students - 3 days 2 nights off-campus camping activity
My son is currently in the General Academics Strand at the aforementioned school. As part of their final requirement which is Work Immersion, they have to join the camping activity of the upper elementary department as facilitators. This year the camping activity was held at Lola Corazon Leisure Farm in Clark, Pampanga.
The bus left at 5:30 in the morning...
They arrived at the campsite at around 9:30 am...
After a quick recess, the students proceeded to their respective activities..
Here are the activities they have done:
- Rappeling
- Zipline
- Cup stacking relay
- Hoops relay
- Rafting
- Tent pitching
- Tent packing
- Water Basketball
- Spongebob relay
- Yell and Cheerdance Competition
The campsite is actually huge. It has 3 rafting areas, a big pool which is about 5 feet deep, a kiddie pool, and a big open area where the kids were designated to set-up their tents (and there are 30+ tents which can shelter about 7 people... so big)
The kids were also the ones who cooked Adobo, Inihaw na Liempo, and rice for their dinner.
The camping is designed not only to test the skills they learned from their subject but also to teach them value of teamwork to be successful in everything they do.
Overall the camping activity was both fun and educational. The kids obviously enjoyed all the activities.
