[Travel] Pure nature in Gerês, Portugal
Hi All,
Last week I went to Gerês (Portugal) for a short weekend. I was completely stunned by its beauty and by how pure everything still is around there.
Peneda-Gerês National Park is in northern Portugal, near the Spanish border. Its rugged hills are home to deer, wolves and golden eagles. Trails include a Roman road studded with milestones.
There are plenty of activities you can do: swim in the beautiful and hidden waterfalls, kayaking, trekking and hikking.
And of course, food (and wine!) is also an attraction. As in most of the country, you can find bacalhau (dried codfish) cooked in many many different ways, all sort of sausages (chouriço, morcela, alheira ...) and a lot of other meat too (rabbit, beef, lamb, pork, chicken, turkey ... you name it!). Don't forget to try vinho verde (green wine) and obviously some Port!
You can fly to Porto, rent a car and in one hour and a half you'll be in the heart of Gerês! ENJOY!
