BUEN RETIRO PARK AND THE TEMPLE OF DEBOD

Buen Retiro Park is in Madrid, Capital of Spain.It is a very large Park with an area of 1.4 square kilometer . It is a magnificient park with lots of sculptures , monuments, galleries, a glass palace and a large lake. Originally the Park belonged to Monarchy until late 19 th Century. later it became a Public park. It attracts hundreds of tourists both local and foreign.

Temple of Debod is an ancient temple in Egypt, that was dismantled and rebuilt in Madrid. This shrine was originally erected near Aswan , Egypt. In 1960 during the construction of Aswan dam it was in danger of being submerged. To save the shrine UNESCO made an appeal to international community. Spain provided some help and as a sign of gratitude Egyptian Government donated Temple of Debod to Spain in 1968 and erected in the present site. This Temple is now very close to Royal Palace of Madrid.
