A Guide to the Best Beaches in Northern Kefalonia (Greece)
The Greek Islands are a superb place – quiet, turquoise waters, shocking scenes, supernatural dusks… However, not each islands was made equivalent. My most loved bit of the Greek heaven? Kefalonia.
Eclipsed by the more prevalent islands like Santorini and Crete, Kefalonia, with its rich green slopes, perfectly clear water and dazzling, practically untouched shorelines remains a tranquil, untainted desert spring holding up to be found.
In Kefalonia, the time backs off, intruded on just by the hints of the waves, lethargically washing over the pebbled shores. The Northern piece of the island, where I remained for over seven days, is less well known among the voyagers than the South and thus more truly Kefalonian.
Here, you won't discover any touristic resorts, rather, you can remain at one of the beguiling angler towns and take in the nearby culture.
With the small and inviting town of Agia Effimia as my base, I've ventured out to close-by towns, found neighborhood shorelines (some of them open just by vessel) and went on a journey to Ithaka to appreciate additionally staggering perspectives and characteristic excellence.
What stroke me the most about Kefalonia, beside its unbelievably well disposed and inviting local people, were the shorelines – while the other Greek islands I went by were all lovely in their own specific manner, their shorelines simply didn't exactly contrast with what Kefalonia brought to the table.
Myrtos, Kefalonia's most well known shoreline, was shut for remodel amid my stay (yes – clearly it is feasible for a whole shoreline to be shut!). Fortunately for me, Kefalonia isn't shy of other excellent spots…
Agia Effimia Beach
This little shoreline is just a couple of moment stroll from Agia Effimia's town focus. Tucked in the middle of the stones, it has completely clear, for all intents and purposes transparent water and, as most shorelines in the North of the island, it's secured with smooth, beautiful rocks. Go for a reviving plunge and sunk up the sun while a reef of little fish swims around your feet!
Secluded Beaches between Agia Effimia and Fiscardo
My most loved shorelines were the ones I needed to get to by vessel. You can undoubtedly lease a speedboat at Agia Effimia's harbor (€60-65 for the littlest vessel + the cost of petroleum) and spend two or three hours cruising starting with one shoreline then onto the next – simply turn left from the harbor and take after the coastline. Encompassed by greenery and quiet blue waters, with basically nobody in locate however a periodic ship or a watercraft, these modest shorelines are just staggering and exceptionally serene . Unless, obviously, your pontoon's motor chooses to soften up the center of a straight overwhelmed with wasps, where you're stuck for a hour until the point when you get spared by an arbitrary Russian couple. That is correct, it transpired!
Antisamos Beach
Antisamos shoreline is only a fast taxi ride far from Agia Effimia and Sami. While it is the most touristy shoreline that I found in this piece of the island, it's still very serene and calm even in July it wasn't excessively loaded with sightseers.
Since the shoreline is agreed with bars, it's an ideal spot to spend a languid summer day!

Those are truly beautiful photos! I have not been a great fan of traveling most of my life, but now that I'm getting older and have had a few experiences I find that I really want to travel more. Here I am last Summer with my boys on my way to Norway! That was my first over-seas experience!
Thank You!
These pictures are amazing. I will definitely add this to my list of places to visit.
