Welcome to early 20th century architecture in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico

The architecture of Mérida from the beginning of the 20th century had a great Parisian influence. Like the one inside the Peón Contreras Theater, our most important theater where I usually go to listen to the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra on Sundays. It is curious that approximately half of the audience are tourists who also go to enjoy the music and architecture of one of the most important buildings in Mérida. Welcome to Yucatan.

La arquitectura de Mérida de principios del siglo XX tenía una gran influencia parisina. Como la que se aprecia en el interior del teatro Peón Contreras, nuestro teatro más importante donde suelo ir a escuchar los domingos a la Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán. Es curioso que la mitad de la audiencia, aproximadamente, son turistas que van también a disfrutar de la música y de la arquitectura de uno de los edificios más importantes de Mérida.
