Temple Stay in Myogaksa - you can experience Temple stay program in english

in #travel7 years ago

When i go to a temple, I feel so peaceful ♥ i think smells of incense, temple bell ringing and monks make me feel that way. so when i'm under so much stress. i go to a temple.

Today i'm going to introduce 'Myogaksa/Myogak-temple' which has a English temple stay program.

Location : 31, Jong-ro 63ga-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul / ☏ 02-763-3109

● Participation Fee : 1night 2days Adult 50,000won

● website : http://www.myogaksa.net

you can choose 'Experience-type' OR 'Relax-type'

in Experience-type you can experience 108 bows , bell striking, Buddhist ceremony, tea ceremony and meditation.

It is a small temple in city and surrounded by houses which means it's not like 'quite temple in mountain'

However, the indoor facilities such as the accommodation and the dining room are very modern.

since i'm meat-lover i worried about meals. but don't worry. you can enjoy delicious vegetarian meals.

If there is even one foreigner among the applicants for a temple stay, the program will be conducted in English.

at first, me and my friend worried what if we can't understand what the monk says.

but so what, it's temple! Buddhism! it's very generous religion, right? so, we decided to relax and focus ourselves whether we understand it or not. ♡

among program i really liked 108 bows(prostration)

during the 108 prostration, threading a bead on string each time done with one prostration, and after 108 bows you get this beautiful Buddhist prayer beads!

Of course, it is very hard to bow 108 times. your legs hurt and you might get sweat. but during the 108 bows you will concentrate on yourself completely without any miscellaneous thoughts.

Tea ceremony and the bell striking are also good.

i really liked this temple stay and soon i will do this again.

if you want to have peaceful and calm time, i recommend this!

I will end posting today with a poem I saw in the temple.

Without attachment

One who has children worries about them,

and one who has a cow worriese about it.

As worry and concern come from attachment.

one without attachment

has neither worry nor concern.
