#1 Travel Interview Series With @Juliank 6800 followers! (Haas Interviews)
Hi everybody thanks for stopping by! I am very excited to introduce a new topic within my blog; the interview series.
As we all know I love traveling and my goal is to use my blog to help create a one-stop spot for travel junkies to share tips, tricks and stories to help people around and create a trusted network of travelers.
Today I decided to add a series to my blog in witch I will interview people that contribute greatly to the Steemit platform.
I am very proud to introduce to you #1 In the series with Julian (6800 followers)
In the interviews I will discuss ask many questions travel related in order to learn more about fellow Steemers, Ready?!!
Who is Julian
He joined the platform in May 2017 @Juliank and by now he is well-known and household name on the platform with over 6800 followers not only hosting very big Photography contest but he is also the creator of @fairlotto, @steempytutorials and @dailysteemreport.
He combines his Photography with learning more about the Crypto world and has a lot of trips planned, therefore he is the ideal guy to starts this series.
Travel bucket list
I always thought everybody has a travel bucket list, I know I have! But when I asked Julian he told me he select his travel destinations differently. He want to see something new and wants it to be safe and when the price is right he is willing to go. Like many travelers he is looking for the best value for money.
His preferred destinations have water, mountains and beautiful landscapes for him to photograph.
But if he has to pick there is a very nice trip on his list to one day enjoy, the trip will be by motorcycle traveling from Amsterdam to New Zealand via Russia! Now that a great trip!
Favorite Destination
Beijing is a little too crowded for his taste, Norway a little too cold, his suggestions is to discover the Mediterranean mostly because the people enjoy life being outside and are super approachable. Also the mindset of really celebrating life is something he really likes.
His other dream trip will take place in 2030 when Elon Musk will ask him to be the photographer on Mars! Until that time Switzerland will do just fine.
First Holiday alone
We all remember our first holiday alone when we were younger, so I decided it just had to be one off my interview questions as well.
At first Julian started telling me about his first trip “alone” so without friends, I guess that counts as first holiday alone as well.
His first holiday alone, without parents, was in Chersonissos Greece like a lot of Europeans, partying and drinking (just celebrating not having your parents around)
The first time traveling by himself was a trip two years ago for six weeks on his motorbike discovering Central and North Europe.
Overrated Place
Julian is not one to plan he just goes with the flow and loves to wander around, therefore he will never say a place is overrated because there is always some beauty to find. His motto will be “no expectations no disappointments”
However the long line at the Palace Museum in Beijing he skipped because It was to crowdie. So you could say that was just a little to overrated at that point to him.
Upcoming trip
Julian worked hard to get himself in a position in which he has freedom to travel if he wants, you could say he is a digital nomad.
There are exciting times coming for him so make sure to follow his photographs to enjoy his coming trips.
First he will visit Iceland and coming April he will go on a trip with no end, he will end his lease of his apartment in Amsterdam, sell his stuff and go on the road!
He will stay in Greece for at least a month to Cliff dive one of his hobbies and as mentioned will go with the flow! He hopes to make it to Israel, Iran and India as well.
Exciting times!
Must Have Travel gadget
What do you absolutely need while traveling?
His answer was simple he wanted to have his two hand available and therefore his backpack is very important but even in his everyday life he has multiple bags to pick from so he can move around freely during what every he does.
His photo camera is traveling with him of course as well. Another tip, don’t over pack! You can always buy what you need locally and sometimes even cheaper to.
Best Food or Restaurant
He adapts on where he is, he loves fish but will eat it when its fresh so he won’t order it when he enjoys the mountains in Switzerland for instance. He also love local products and will always try to enjoy the local cuisine in order to enjoy his destination better.
Favorite spot in your own city?
It was very interesting to talk to him about this, living both in Amsterdam! We both find it important that tourist stay away from the common and famous shopping streets and discover the “old city” Centre with all the canals.
Don’t forget to visit the Jordaan area to enjoy the real Amsterdam, and because Julian likes nature so much his picks will also be the “Amsterdamse Bos and Spaarnwoude”
I hope you liked this part of the interview so we could all learn about Julian and his travel preferences.
I also decided to ask him Steemit related questions.
Julian is all about IT and Photography and as mentioned in my eyes he is one of the most important Steemit account regarding those two topics, he is really helping the platform grow.
Favorite Photo camera
Julian is looking at over 1000 pictures a day because of his Photography contest, he really enjoys it because he learns about photography along the way himself as well.
But what does he like best himself?
His drone broke yesterday and his goal is to add videos to the platform soon so there are more things he likes using. Camera wise he tips the Sony A7 S3 because of its value for money.
Photography tips
Pick the right moment of the day “Golden hour” don’t play around with the colors to much and just try, try and try more.
He also suggest looking at other photo’s to learn more about what you like and dislike in order to create your own style.
And finally to end the interview I was very interested in his opinion about Steemit and what the future will bring.
Future of Steemit
In his eyes Steemit will be the backbone for the Social media Economy that will keep growing.
He expects great thing for 2018 and he feels the Steem coin can go up to between $10 and $40 so exciting times.
His own future on the platform will consist out of looking into new tools to help the community and he will try to support new accounts as much as he can.
I hope you liked this first interview with fellow Steemers! Thanks @Julian for taking the time for this interview.
I will share the next interview with you soon.
How are going to choose travellers to interview? Like, will it be the most well-known users who has thousands subscribers and are consistently getting to trending or some less-known and new guys as well?
I will pick people i find interesting so that can be anybody! Julian is doing great work for the platfrom and just wanted to learn more about his travel preferences. Will add more people to the series soon
