Oh boy! What a wonderful follow-up post. The Netherlands is a dream-like place.
I loved the picture of the windmill, such a pastoral view of life. One thing I admire about european countries is how they have managed to combine technological advances and the preservation of traditional life (farming, the preservation of old buildings, traditions, etc.).
This post made me go back in time to the old venezuela, the one chavistas have said repeatedly was really bad and cruel, and yet, it was one country that allowed a poor boy in a remote town to eat Gouda cheese because his father, who was a national guard always got a basket full of goodies for Christmas.
We did not need to go to places, places would come to us (and we could afford their most representative items).
