RV travel

Ever just want to sell everything, buy an RV (recreational vehicle) and travel? Sounds great, right? Here we will all share some tips and pitfalls of the RV lifestyle. Whether just for a day trip, a weekend, or longer, there are some things to keep in mind.
We travel every other month or so with 2 small dogs so this was a no brainer for us. Checking in to motels that accept pets was a nightmare for my wife and I. Very limited choices and hotel/motel noise did us in. Housekeeping staff have to start early so our dogs let us know that. So, we did minimal research and off to buy our first RV.
It was a 26 foot simple used travel trailer that cost us about $9,000. We bought it at Lazydays which is one of the largest dealers in the country. This was a good move. We might have got a better deal at a smaller dealer or private party, but Lazydays took the time to show us how to do things on/with the trailer and this is HUGE.
So, tip #1: Do your research and buy your first RV from a dealer who will take time with you. Ask them to walk you through the rv and show you : how to hook and up and detach the rv, the electrical system, the plumbing system, the slide outs operation (walls that slide out from the sides of the rv) , the air/heat system, the propane set up and how to dump the holding tanks (waste tanks for bathroom and kitchen). This should take at least an hour to cover everything. Think of everything as a moving house...many parts like a house but they are moving down the road and over many bumps in the road....
(to be continued)....
