Best travel moment of 2017 — Lovedale

Lovedale Station, Ooty, India

Mostly known for the Lawrence School and the little railway station, a lot of people pass up the chance to visit this town. 5 km outside Ooty, a single road with forests and mountains on the side that leads to it. It’s beautiful.

Things to do

Run through a private forest and around the Lawrence School with Go Heritage Run. Train spotting at Lovedale Station and occasional romantic wedding photo shoots too.

Want to be extra adventurous?

Walk along the track to the next station Ketti Valley.

Getting there

Well connected to Ooty bus station. You can choose to travel by bus or a local auto-rickshaw. Stop on the way to Lovedale to get some beautiful countryside experience.

If you’re heading for the run, stay at Lawrence School dorm — Go Heritage Run has an exclusive partnership. A completely different experience to stay with the fellow runners, share your stories. Rarely a community of people with similar interests get to stay together over a weekend. The dorm gets booked out right away. Otherwise Aventura Camp is a good option.

You might run into a family of bisons. We spotted a few in the church outside Lawrence school.

Run buds. Met them first at Hampi Heritage Run. We usally don’t plan but end up meeting at most heritage runs.
