Day 4 of my Belgium trip! [Heading back, Maastricht, Limestone grooves]
Hi there people of the steems, this is 4th part of my Belgium trip. Read the other parts here: 1, 2 & 3.
We woke up pretty late because it was such a comfortable place. We got out the tent and we saw our location. The sun was shining so we had a great mood. We started looking around and walking a bit. We saw that we were really close to a path. We had some breakfast and packed our tent. We followed the small road and went to the closest road. We got there and we started walking into Spa. We started arguing where to go, Max came up with the idea to travel to Maastricht and go to the limestone grooves. We also bought some water at the supermarket while we were walking into Spa. We went back to the same store where we did shopping yesterday and we bought some canned food and yoghurt. We walked to the cafe to internet a little and then we went to the station. We took the train and hoped it went to the right direction. We asked the ticket checker in the train and he told us where to go. We had to get out at Verviers and take the train to Liège. From there we took a train to Maastricht, the bus to Kanne was leaving 1 hour later so we went to the city and decided to take the bus from there. We chilled in the McDonalds for the free wifi and after a while we went to the bus stop. We took the bus and we got out in Kanne. We walked next to the Albertcanal and after a while we got into the forest. We had to climb some stuff with ropes, first we walked the wrong direction. Max remembered a old abandoned house so we went there first. Max took a dump in the portable toilet and we left. We were heading to the limestone grooves. It's a big maze of tunnels under the ground. We walked and eventually we found the entrance. We didn't want to go in that far because we didn't know the tunnels that good. Max went there a year earlier but he didn't remember much. We got in and there were 4 others from the Netherlands who lived close to the caves. They didn't have a map and they left. We walked around for a bit and I took these pictures. We ate some canned fruit that we bought in Spa and went out. As we got out Max told me about a cool sleepingspot on a lookout point. He didn't know the exact location so he called one of his friends if he could check it out. His friend send the location and we started walking. We found the spot and it was a amazing spot. It was just right beside a drop of 30 meters. We set the tent up at a sketchy spot next to a edge. We took some pictures after. After that we went to bed, we weren't hungry and we fell asleep pretty quick
Day 5
Huh? Day 5? Yes, it wasn't that much of a day because we went back home and I had a travel of 5 hours.
We woke up and saw the cool location where we were sleeping, it was really high. We took a ferry from the penisula where we got on. From Eijsden we took the train home. This was it for the Belgium trip. I want to thank William Patt for his kindness. And a big shoutout to my travel buddy and mother @maxse ! <3
