Liberate My Art - Travel in Paris, Montemarte.
Ahh the whimsical cobbled roads of Montemarte, a historical centre now filled with deprived sex shops and stunning Byzantine architecture enveloping your eyes.
At this point in time, Paris is my second home and Montemarte has become my favourite destination when im visiting.
Most people settle for the grandiose, geometric perfection of the Sacre Coeur.
But not me.
The charm and character of this little hillside town combines the cosiness of the tight nooks and crannies of Amsterdam's streets with the grand orchestrated eye-candy that Paris is known for.
It's friendly and gritty, it's mesmerising and breathtaking, but its just as grimy and dirty.
This polarised aesthetic and feel permeates throughout all of Paris, and one thing that helps bridge the balance between the beauty and the grit is the graffiti.
Whatever your stance on graffiti - be it art or vandalism. You have to admit that it is an unfiltered expression of the people who are part of the city.
The art in Montmarte is endless and it is everywhere.
From painted eyeballs on bollards to full murals on entire streets, all the way down to an artist market. Montemarte has it all.
