Can I Invite Myself In? A Steemit Virgin Saying "Hello!"

Hi! My name is James Rowland.

I'm the new kid. A slightly older new kid, but a newbie nonetheless. I've been a writer and English Second Language teacher for most of my twenties. I live in Hanoi, amongst the unrelenting mists, mountains and mysteries of Northern Vietnam. I have lived in Sydney, London, Brighton and will shortly be living in Berlin.

I believe writing should be entertaining, informative and creative. Trying to achieve all of this, Ernest Hemingway once said, is like "breaking rocks". I work my behind off to do so and always strive to give you a reason to keep reading.

My passions are travel writing, teaching and photography. I've written a book, am building my first website and am working on my second book as I type this introduction statement. I've been inspired by a lot of you out there who have been tapping away on this blogging platform for a long time. Let's read, love, share and travel together!

I hope to add some colour and excitement to your life. I'll mostly be posting photographs and medium length, journalist style travel pieces fit for your coffee breaks. I want to jet your consciousness away from wherever it is you sit down to read.

The "Foreigner Stupid" series is about the mistakes we make when we pursue our misguided forays into other cultures. The "She Made Me Do It" series is about how an unimaginably interesting and strikingly beautiful French girl altered the course of my life and set me free in Vietnam's countryside, on a terrible little scooter, four years ago!

I'm going to publish both of these, so I'll restrict the material here to tasters in blog, not book, form.
