Traveling in old Dhaka: Narinda-Wari
Dazzle of 400 years old tradition of old Dhaka. Narinda and Wari may be an interesting area for those who are interested in the old Dhaka campaign.
How to go: From any place in Dhaka, you can come to the rickshaw from Sayedabad bus stand. By the waterway, there can be a rickshaw in Sadarghat.
What to see
Binat Bibi Mosque: This is the oldest of the surviving mosques of Dhaka. This Sultanate mosque was built in 1457 AD. It is very close to the Narinda Police Outpost.
Christian Cemetery: The oldest Christian graveyard in Dhaka is situated in the border of Narinda and Wari. It's about 300 years old. The oldest grave here was buried in 1724. Inside there are numerous diverse shaped tomb floors. Colombo Shaheb Tomb is the biggest lovely tomb here. However, there are some restrictions on entry.
Nasiruddin Smriti Bhaban: It is situated on the Sarat Gupta road of Narinder. A beautiful landowner of Kishoreganj, this beautiful house was built in approximately 1890 AD. The real matter is that the editors of Saujat newspaper Nasiruddin, Begum correspondent Nurjahan Begum and child writer Roknuzzaman Khan Dadabhai lived here. Today the house has been preserved to protect their memory.
Connection House: The palatial house of a wealthy conglomerate family was built in 1921-1926. Now its violent state. Being fully occupied can be broken at any time! The three other establishments adjacent to it have been broken down despite being on the list of protected archaeological remains of Bangladesh Department of Archeology - these are Bhojhari Lodge, Shankhinithi Nachghar and RadhaKrishna Mandir. Currently only the Connection House remains. (Nobody will know if you call Chancellhini House, but the old building next to Graduate High School at Wari Tipusulatan Road is the Connection House.)
Dhala Zamindar Houses: There is a beautiful landlord of Dhala zamindars in Wari Rankin Street. The house at Dichtal is still quite good. It is currently under the National Curriculum and Textbook Board.
Madhav Gaudiya Matha: The most beautiful monastery in Dhaka, the medieval monastery of Narinda. The staircase is full of extraordinary craftsmanship and is decorated with eye-catching colors. The beautiful monastery was built in 1935.
If you have a lot of time and you want to discover the hidden gems of the old Olivegir labyrinth, then you have this list for you-
Owners of Shakti Pharmacy, Lalmohan Chakravarty's house (Sarat Gupta Road), Narinda Pump House (British House Pump House, beside Narinda Government High School), Gods Acres Cemetery (Larmini Street, Wari), Technical School of Shah Yusof Shah (Shah Sahib), Shah's house And Madrasah (Shah Sahab Lane), Radhagovinda Temple and the old buildings nearby (Lalmohan Saha Street) and Sri Sri Radhagovinda Jiu Mandi (Chandra Basak Street, Wari).
What to eat: Do not forget to drink polgar of Narinda 'Jhunu Polao House'. There are also many more polao-biriyani shops here. Besides, you will also get the traditional Bakrakhani of old Dhaka.
Your journey to old Dhaka is good.
