Weekend in LjubljanasteemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel3 years ago

On our most recent vacation in Slovenia we had a hard time seeing everything we wanted and had planned. However, we could not skip the capital city Ljubljana.

I used to study there many years ago and as a student I did not experience the city the same way as this time around. It was great to be back!

The old city center has beautiful buildings, stunning statues, and other artwork. The streets are full of people from early morning until late night. I was told this summer there was less crowds but to me it still felt quite a busy area.

We walked around A LOT in those three days. We were lucky to have sunny weather throughout although we felt exhausted by the end of each day. We also rent some bikes too to explore a bit further. The city has a great bike system.

"The BicikeLJ bicycle-sharing system gives you an opportunity to hire bikes from self-service terminals located across the wider Ljubljana city centre. BicikeLJ bikes are particularly suitable for shorter, up to an hour-long rides as hire is free if you return a hired bicycle to the nearest docking station within an hour and wait for five minutes before hiring a new one.

The use of the BicikeLJ system is practically free of charge. The only cost involved is the symbolic fee for compulsory online registration with the system, which stands at €1.00 for a week and €3.00 for a year and must be completed in advance of hiring."

I love all the greenery in the city and the Tivoli park within walking distance from the center. All you need is a blanket, some drinks and good company (or a book).

I have more photos to show you, especially the nice art from the streets of Ljubljana. See my favorite one yet - one of four dragons from the famous Dragon Bridge.

Thanks for sharing, @k4r1nn! Are you taking pictures with a new phone?

You’re welcome. Yes I am taking all these photos with my phone, so glad I made this purchase ☺️ I used to have a camera but phone is so much more convenient to carry around 📱 love your photos by the way, they are more professional than the ones I take for sure!!

Thank you for these posts! I really enjoy seeing them. :)
