RE: 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #129
The beach of Nazaré, Portugal is quite recent, until the 17th century, the town main economic activity was fishing as the sea came to strike the foothills, covering the entire area now occupied by the beach and the houses. In the 1960s, tourism developed and the city began to be known internationally, mainly because of its surf spot where the highest wave in the world was surfed, up to 30 meters high.
