Vibrant ‘Valley of the Arts’ Festival – Now on
The annual ‘Valley of the Arts’ (Művészetek Völgye) festival, offering a smorgasbord of cultural delights is currently taking place in the village of Kapolcs, Hungary and its nearby surrounding villages.
Each year this lovely sleepy village situated on the northern coast of Lake Balaton quite literally comes alive with artists, musicians, and artisans to showcase their talent and wares to an eager and willing audience.
There are many events, venues and stages with different music and programmes throughout the day and night. These include concerts, shows, dance, theatre and literary events, with music ranging from world music, classical and folk, to blues and jazz.
Whether it is retro, or beautiful hand crafted clothes you are after, jewellery, art, books or some fabulous home-made gifts…you will be sure to find something you like here. The large market by the stream in Kapolcs is utterly delightful and chock full of stalls selling arts and crafts, but you can also explore the many side streets and courtyards of the surrounding area which have all been transformed for the event and are also brimming with stalls, exhibitions and events.
If you don’t want to take part in any of the music programmes, then a walk around the villages and the many stands and market stalls is all free. Or you can just chill out and people watch while drinking a cold beer or a fizzy fröccs (white wine spritzer).
But whatever you decide to do…don‘t forget to bring a bag as you will definitely want to buy something!
Along with the mouth-watering traditional Hungarian food, fun and festivities on offer; this vibrant, magical, friendly and buzzing festival which is beautifully situated on the tip of the Balaton Uplands National Park is an absolute must do event.
The festival runs from July 21st to July 30th 2017.
