A non-golfer's guide to Carmel, CA

in #travel8 years ago

As a bay-area native and avid-golfer, I have made countless pilgrimages to the Mecca of golf in Pebble Beach, CA. Solely from the beauty of the golf courses, this has become my favorite place to visit in the continental United States (Kauai is unbeatable). But after a nasty spinal injury put golf on the back burner, I needed an excuse to head down to Heaven Lite. Some buddies and I headed down to hike around Point Lobos and grab some lunch.

Great decision.

GORGEOUS views of the water paired with scenic, natural trails through the Cypress trees.

Plenty of tree-climbing opportunities for the adventurous ones as well. Parking is easy - just park for free along highway 1, you have to pay to park within the state reserve itself. We went on a weekday in the morning, and it wasn't crowded at all - I'd aim to do the same if I were you :).

For some great Mexican food on the way home, I recommend Baja Cantina, in Carmel Valley. The food was A+, and the outside seating was super comfortable.

Happy to answer any questions about the area, as I have made the trek down countless times now!
