How I discovered Steemit
Thank you for a warm welcome to Steemit!
I wanted to share our story of how we came to find Steemit.
On our cycle trip we decided to attempt the Great Divide Mountain Biking Route. A grueling 4455.3 km off road challenge. The route is 90% unpaved tracks through the Rocky Mountains. I was a little apprehensive as I had never done any off road single track mountain biking before!
The track starts in beautiful Banff, Canada. There we were lucky enough to meet our new best bud Uzair. He was attempting to bushwack a route through the mountains from Jasper to Banff. Uzair (or Uzi as we call him) is amazing in so many ways. He became our very good friend super quickly. And the kindness of
strangers struck again. Uzair invited us to stay with him in Sacramento. And we did, many months later. We ended up staying with our new friend for a couple of weeks.
We would go to his local climbing gym, Pipeworks (home gym to the man the legend Alex Honnold). On our first of several visits to Pipeworks, George and I were talking about how we would love to Acroyoga. We’d heard people practiced it here and looked around filled with hope that we’d see some Acroyogis. No sooner than we stepped foot on the mats did George recognise a familiar voice. It's was Karen (a Steemit enthusiast)!
I couldn’t believe there was a connection so far from home in a place we’d never been but it turns out they had studied together in Australia, many years ago. These type of random connections makes the world seem
like a small place, perhaps the theory of the six degree separation is real.
Karen is one of my favorite people that I got to know on this trip. She is always excited full of energy and love. She and her partner Cheyne @acromott also are acro instructors so not only did I gain a friend, I also got to share in the acro knowledge with Karen and her friends and community. Karen is the one that inspired us to Steemit. And without her help i would have been helpless on
Steemit. She is a true inspiration so big shout out to lovely @Karensuestudio
