Heathrow

in #travel6 years ago

I have written many times that I really love England, Britain and the whole Kingdom.
I like English countryside landscapes, Scottish castles and mountains, London's free spirit and orderliness in everything, restraint and goodwill.
People in Foggy Albion know how to ignore other people, do not interfere, do not glance. But if you fell down, they will help you instantly. They will not give a chance to die under the fence.
This is my personal opinion of the Anglo-Saxons, which has developed over several trips and a few months in London.

But where does the UK begin? With Heathrow.
My favorite airport is all over the world.
First of all, I love the British organization. And secondly, now Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo - wonderful places, beautiful, sparkling, but still a problem with informativeness. I leave like a year ago from Sheremetyevo, I was directly sincerely proud for this airport. But how much is intuitive in Heathrow. How informative!
Heathrow is huge. It has since its appearance confirmed the status of the largest airport in Europe. So it remains the largest.

The history of Heathrow began in 1919, when Alcock and Brown made the first flight across the Atlantic. Since 1920 members of the royal family learn to drive not only cars, but also planes.
Queen Elizabeth II during the Second World War drove a truck, but she can drive a plane, a helicopter, and jump from a parachute.
Heathrow, of course, was a small village, 50 km from London. Not hilly, flat terrain was just right for takeoff and landing of aircraft.

On January 1, 1946, Heathrow was officially openedand the history of passenger air travel began in Britain.
For a long time, flights remained the lot of the rich and powerful of this world. Mass flights began in about 70 years.
The cost of the tickets was incredible. For example, the flight London-New York - 5000 dollars.
But on board they gave champagne, caviar and allowed to smoke)

Until 1956, there were no buildings at the airport, people were waiting for planes right on the street, poking around the booths.
Now there are several terminals in Heathrow. Inside the airport there are electric trains and small funny taxi cabs.

From the airport is also on the train, it is already considered subway, you can get to London.

Heathrow has a very tough examination of things, terrorism! But I do not care, I have not been examined yet. I've told my friends many times, do not carry liquids, scissors and knives in hand luggage. No stilettos, daggers, sticks and bottles. Harmful and uncomprehending comrades fell, but this is their problem.

In Heathrow, there are super duti-free shops , a couple of times I bought la mer for the price of * clinique*, alcohol is one of the cheapest and the huge choice of cigars and chocolate. I can not say how things are in 2018, and in general, I practically do not consume alcohol anymore, I do not give a cigar and use perfume and cosmetics, but still the duty-free in Hitro is my bright memory.

By the way, in one film about Heathrow learned that every year in the shops of the airport sell about 4 million bottles of perfume, 10 million bottles of alcohol and 100 million cigars and almost a billion cigarettes.
In Heathrow there is a famous Harrods store. It has an excellent airport set of goods, and always an eye-pleasing picture of how the goods are arranged and how they look. This is my personal weakness for the bears, I can not pass by the giant Teddy bears at the entrance to the Harrods department.

In general, why did I write a lot of letters there? And all for one purpose. I call on everyone to travel, London or Paris, St. Petersburg, or, or, or.
Travel, make trips large and small, come to London, it's good there.
Welcome.

P.S. In Britain, including Heathrow, everything is clear even with garbage. Different buckets, everything is written and painted. Do not miss. Everything is re-cursed, everything is correctly recycled. How can they not be loved?
