Weekend Getaway to Quinns Hot Springs in Paradise Montana

in #travel6 years ago

Hey Friends! I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to post any adventures, but I have a little time this morning as a crew is currently tearing up my hallway flooring and replacing it. Ugh. Seems like the construction, initially due to a broken pipe, is never ending. As a stress reliever, and in an attempt to reconnect to my boy friend (still ex at the moment), we headed to Quinn’s Hot Springs in Montana. I’ve been wanting to go here for years. Visiting hot springs is pretty much my new favorite hobby, and there is an abundance within driving distance. Kirkham Hot Springs in Idaho are by far my favorite, but I wanted to do a little tour of Quinn’s for you!

Quinn’s is a small resort built around naturally formed hot springs, in which the water is simply pumped up from the ground. They have cabins, a great restaurant, a bar, a small casino, and a cute little gift shop. A small town is nearby with a gas station and more necessities.

The rental cabin we had was about $160 a night, which included our two passes to the pools for two days. The cabins were very cute! I forgot to take pictures as we went in, but I was able to snag pictures of one of the cabins that overlooked the river as one of the cleaning ladies was finishing up.

The cabins overlooking the river were an upgrade from the ones we stayed in. Ours were a duplex-like unit, and these cabins stood alone, offering a little bit more privacy and a private porch.

Cabins by the river had a small kitchen, large bath, and a cute fire place.

The bar had great drinks and appetizers, as well as a more affordable selection for lunch and dinner. The restaurant was a little pricy, but the food was very good. You could bring your own bottle of wine in, but the corking fee was $15 per bottle. Best to have one glass of wine with dinner and drink your own wine in your cabin. I had the roasted duck, but the steaks were great as well.

Quinn’s hot springs is the first time I have been to a ‘resort hot spring’ with the built up pools. The pools do not have any chemicals in them, the water is pumped straight out of the ground. Because they do not use chemicals, the water is drained and replaced every 72 hours. The current temperatures are checked often and posted on a wipe off board by the kiosk to get your towels. 3 of the pools are hot, one is medium, the larger swimming pool is pleasantly warm, and then one smaller pool has 60 degree well water pumped in and will make your body go numb in a minute or so.

The little ground squirrels, often mistaken for chipmunks, scamper all around the resort and are so adorable!

The resort is situated in one of the most beautiful valleys I have every seen. It’s also quick driving distance to Glacier National Park and Missoula. It is definitely a must if you are in the Pacific Northwest. Even in the summer time it wasn’t too hot and it was very relaxing. Optimal time to go would probably be the spring or the fall, but it cools down so much at night that it is still wonderful year round.

I hope you have enjoyed this little tour of the hot springs and I hope you get a chance to go some day!
