Hello Steemit! Let's re-define adulthood and live adventurously!

in #travel7 years ago

OK here goes... I feel like the newest newbie to all of this since I only delved into the world of social media about a year ago. Yep, I’m pretty behind the times. But I am excited to be a part of this community!

The best way I could describe myself is a part-time traveller and full-time adventurer because I believe that big or small - every adventure counts! I also recently got into photography and film making but since I have a business degree I'm still not quite sure what stuff like 'aperture' is. So I now spend most of my time learning, making YouTube videos, figuring out how to edit, and eating snacks. Because have I mentioned I love food?

I was born and raised in Germany and moved to the States when I was about 12. Once I graduated from University, I spent around 3 years being based in London and travelling Europe. So I guess I’ve always been a bit of a nomad and I absolutely love the travel lifestyle. But most of all I love sharing my passion. I truly believe we can all live our own adventure and I hope sharing my journey will help you do the same.

Like most, I haven’t been able to travel continuously… yet. I spent my 20’s doing all the things I was ‘supposed’ to instead of following my heart around the world. So here I am. Early 30’s with a house, a dog, and a full plate of adult responsibilities. But I don’t think conventional adulthood is for me. I’m on the pursuit of a life less ordinary. An adventure filled adulthood, if you will.

This planet is so beautiful and the more of it I discover, the more I realize I haven’t seen… and when I’m not busy writing corny lines like that, I’m trekking off the beaten path, visiting places most won’t go, listening to strangers’ adventure stories, and crossing things off my bucketlist. I would love to hear what you guys have on your bucketlist! What have you crossed off? What’s still on the list? And what, if anything, has held you back from going for it?

37 countries done and now equipped with an arsenal of camera gear, I am about to set off on a massive winter wonderland journey. Looking forward to sharing & hearing from you!

Keep adventuring x

A big STEEMIT Welcome to you Linda,
We are all happy that you are here! (But 99.99999% of us don't realize it yet)

I see you came over from YouTube(or... you have an online presence there). You may consider putting a comment on your latest video... or do a video about joining Steemit so that we can verify your account(Yes, sorry, reality check.... people will hijack other people's online persona's...If you can verify, we will know we can support you 100%)
You might consider doing the photo verification where you write your steemit name and something like "New to Steemit" with the date, and hold it for a photo that you post here. That is another 'verifier' step.

I have a few tips for you......:

  • find a community. Maybe join the @minnowsupport project.

  • comment and follow other's articles for your first 1-4 months here more than you do your own posts. This will actually help you to gain Followers. And improve and refine your Posting style(by seeing other's good examples and bad examples).

  • don't plan to get rich. If you come for money, it will probably be a struggle.

  • it will still be a struggle when you are new.... for 2 or 3 months. As you meet more steemians and ask questions and figure things out, it will get easier.

  • only Post original work. Many new Steemians get into trouble when they copy and paste things from Google or from the internet, AND IT IS NOT their photo, writing or work. IF you can't post your own things, better not post. Since you have other Social Media presence, be sure to give citation and mention when you CROSS-Publish something. Otherwise @cheetah will get suspicious!

  • comment and make friends, but don't ask "Follow me" or "please Upvote me" Maybe after you have become friends... maybe. But never as your first, second or third comment to them. Never!

  • have fun!

I am a community volunteer. I try to stop SPAM and trash and things that hurt Steemit. IF you see anything like that, please feel free to let me know, I will look into it!

Thank you so much for that and all the helpful info! I did a bunch of research and reading before posting but missed the verify step. I'll be sure to do that ASAP

Yes, let us re-define! Welcome!!

Thank you so much! and yay, I'm glad you're on board :)

Hi @lifebylinda

That's great that you are following your travel dreams. I on the other hand am sitting at my desk at work right now, hoping that my current work will pay off and that I will have invested enough money to do whatever I want.

I would like to see what's outside of the Americas. Right now I have saved up enough airlines points and vacation time to travel somewhere cheap. I'm just not sure where I should go.

Anyways, if you're ever into writing/poetry then check out my blog @pltorres

Hi @pltorres thank you so much for the welcome. If you ever want to chat travel destinations I would be happy to help. Depending on where you are based I'm sure there are some great spots for you to go visit. What type of travel are you hoping to do? outdoorsy? relaxing?

Regardless I think it's great that you have a goal in mind and are working towards it.

I'll be sure to check out your work :)

welcome to steemit have a good time

Thanks so much :) I'm looking forward to it!
