Now it’s Easter holiday in Europe and as you dear Steemit friends know, I love to be on the road whenever possible!

This time, we spend our Easter holiday and some additional days in the Balkans. Our first destination is Slovenia. Slovenia is called Switzerland of the Balkans, because it’s also a small country, small population, and its landscape is also similar with Switzerland. And not to forget, it is also the most expensive country in the Balkans.

Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia. It is quite a small Capital city with just more than 270'000 inhabitants. There are a lot of young students here, so it feels like a student city.

The architecture style of Ljubljana combines with the architectural styles of Austria and Italy, it looks like little Vienna.

The city is clean and tidy, very quiet and very orderly, and it is said that it is one of the safest capitals in the world.

The fast-flowing river flows through the city and the sides of the river are lined with cafes and bars. At night a lot is going on on the river banks, people are having fun and enjoy the time.

How lovely! I´ve never been to Lubjiana but it is definitely on my bucket list. It´s so funny I never think of Slovenia as being part of the "Balkan" or maybe even better said, I haven´t heard that word in a long time.
One really sees the old influence of the Habsburg monarchy in the city.

Beautiful pics which really do justice to that lovely town. I visited it in 2007. Can't have changed that much since then :P I slept in a hostal which was located in a former prison ^^
