WITH LOVE FROM ITALY: Calabrian Holidays.

Hello my steemit friends, a few months ago I had the pleasure and the luck to take a trip to discover southern Italy.

Ciao amici di steemit, qualche mese fa ho avuto il piacere e la fortuna di fare un viaggio allo scoperta del sud Italia.

After years of work, study and commitments of all kinds, I managed to organize and participate in a trip with two of my dearest friends, to discover one of the most beautiful lands of Italy, Calabria.

Dopo anni di lavoro, studio e impegni di ogni tipo, sono riuscita ad organizzare e a partecipare ad un viaggio con due mie carissime amiche, alla scoperta di una delle terre piu belle d'Italia, la Calabria.
At the beginning of June we were lucky enough to have seven days to spend in Calabria, hosted by the relatives of one of my friends, who gave us a room in a residence along the coasts, in San Nicola Arcella, one of the famous seaside resorts of the Riviera dei Cedri.

A inizio Giugno abbiamo avuto la fortuna di avere sette giorni da spendere in calabria, ospitate dai parenti di una delle mie amiche, che ci hanno messo a disposizione una stanza in un residence lungo le coste, a San Nicola Arcella, una delle famose località balneari della Riviera dei Cedri.

Located on the rocky wall at 110 m above sea level, it is positionated just above the natural bay that is at the foot of the rocky overhang, where along the coast there are beaches and natural paths that you can go for walks or treks. This was the view that I would wake up every morning, our residence directly facing the sea and the bay below. On the left you see the Crawford Tower, located above the cliffs, originally known as the Saracen Tower.

Situata sulla parete rocciosa a 110 m sopra il livello del mare, è posizionata appena sopra la baia naturale che sta ai piedi dello strapiombo roccioso, dove lungo tutta la costa si estendo spiagge e percorsi naturali che si possono percorrere per delle passeggiate o scarpinate. Questa era la vista a cui mi svegliavo ogni mattina, il nostro residence affaciava direttamente sul mare, e sulla baia sottostante. Sulla sinistra si vede la Torre Crawford, situata sopra la scogliera, conosciuta orginariamente come Torre Saracena.

The town center is filled with history from every street, and buildings. The village was renovated in the nineties. It houses buildings dating back to the nineteenth century, monuments and squares that in summer host and entertain tourists from all over the world.

Il centro paese è colmo di storia ad ogni via, ed edificio. Il borgo è stato ristrutturato negli anni novanta. Ospita palazzine risalenti all'ottocento, monumenti e piazze che d'estate ospitano e intrattengono turisti da tutto il mondo.

We arrived at the beginning of June, where the tourist turnout was very low. We found ourselves having the whole village to explore in peace.
The first day we allowed ourselves a walk around the village, and a bit of rest after the long journey. We started from the north, traveling all over Italy with the car to get to the south. It took us 11 hours to get there. The first evening we had dinner in a local restaurant, taking the opportunity to try local specialties, the catch of the area especially.

Siamo arrivate all'inizio di Giugno, dove l'affluenza turistica era molto bassa. Ci siamo trovate ad avere l'intero borgo da esplorare in tranquillità.
Il primo giorno ci siamo concesse un giro per il borgo, e un po di riposo dopo il lungo viaggio. Siamo partite dal nord, percorrendo tutta l'italia con la macchina per arrivare al sud.
Ci sono volute 11 ore di viaggio per arrivare li. La prima sera abbiamo cenato in un ristorante del posto, cogliendo l'opportunità di provare specialità tipiche della zona, il pescato della zona sopratutto.

Our dinner began with a plate of fish appetizers, on the advice of the owner who kindly hosted us to dine in spite of the time we presented for dinner. We arrived very late, despite all this, it was the hospitality and courtesy of the local people to win.

La nostra cena è incominciata con un piatto di antipasti di pesce, su consiglio della proprietaria che ci ha gentilmente ospitate a cenare nonostante l'ora in cui ci siamo presentate per cena. Siamo arrivate molto tardi, nonostante tutto cio, e stata l'ospitalità e la cortesia delle persone a vincere.

Then I ordered a second, always fish, a mixed fry, from the catch of the day.

Per poi proseguire con un secondo, sempre di pesce, un fritto misto, dal pescato del giorno.

A delicious dinner, and definitely full of new flavors, which did not allow any more space for a sweet unfortunately. During dinner we had the pleasant company of the owner. A very polite lady, who was willing to suggest places where we could continue our journey and our exploration.

Una cena deliziosa, e decisamente piena di sapori nuovi, che non ha permesso altro spazio per un dolce purtroppo. Durante la cena abbiamo avuto la piacevole compagnia della propretaria. Una signora molto educata, che è stata disposta a consigliarci posti in cui poter proseguire la nostra permanenza e la nostra esplorazione.

Exploring the coasts : ARCOMAGNO

Following the advice of the restaurant owner, the next day we plan our first adventure to discover one of the most beautiful beaches and natural monument in the area. A walk that would take us to the Arcomagno. A small beach, of breathtaking beauty, which is located between a rocky landscape, and the waves of the sea.

Su consiglio della proprietaria, pianifichiamo la nostra prima avventura alla scoperta di una delle spiagge piu belle, e monumento naturale della zona. Una passeggiata che ci avrebbe portato all'Arcomagno. Una piccola spiaggia, di una bellezza mozzafiato, che si trovava immersa tra un paesaggio roccioso, e le onde del mare.
To reach the beach you follow a path along the coast, crossing the beaches to get to the rocky wall, which leads to the path that will lead you to the Arcomagno.

Per raggiungere la spiaggia si segue un percorso lungo la costa, attraversando prima le spiagge lungo la riva del mare per arrivare alla parete rocciosa, che porta sul sentiero che ti condurrà fino all'Arcomagno.

Climbing the stairs, the landscape from that view is breathtaking. Set among green, sky and sea.

Salite le scale, il paesaggio da quella vista è da mozzafiato. Immersi tra verde, cielo e mare.

This is the Dino Island, one of the largest of the islands of Calabria. The name has been attributed according to two possible versions, the first due to the Greek word "dina", which translates into a storm (because of the strong waves that hit its shores, and for the battles of which it has historically been a guest) .

Questa è l'Isola di Dino, una delle più grandi isole della Calabria. Il nome è stato attribuito secondo due possibili versioni, la prima che sia dovuto al termine Greco "dina", che si traduce in tempesta ( per via delle forte onde che colpiscono le sue coste, e per le battaglie di cui è sempre stata storicamente ospite).

Instead the second and more romantic version is attributed to a temple, "Aedina", in honor of Venus that stood on this island, inspired by the beauty of its landscape.

Invece una versione piu romantica si attribuisce ad un tempio,"Aedina", in onore di Venere che sorgeva su quest'isola, ispirata alla bellezza del suo paesaggio.

To get to the beach does not take long, but we had to be careful along the way.

Per arrivare fino alla spiaggia non si impiega molto, ma abbiamo dovuto fare attenzione lungo il tragitto.

You walk among the rocks, in the paths traced over the years, along inlets between green and above the sea.

Si cammina tra le rocce, nei sentieri tracciati negli anni, percorrendo insenature tra verde e rocce sopra il mare.
And when you reach your destination, in front of you there is the ARCOMAGNO, and the beach, inserted between the rocky walls.

E quando raggiungi la meta, di fronte ti attende l'ARCOMAGNO, e la spiaggia, inserita tra le pareti rocciose.

The size of the beach is very small, and you can only stay there after the first hours of the morning have passed, and the high water has retreated.

Le dimensioni della spiaggia sono molto piccole, e ci si puo stare solo dopo che le prime ore del mattino sono passate, e l'acqua alta si è ritirata.

The seaside resort takes its name from the arch that can be seen among the rocks, which frames the small beach inside. There are two ways to reach this hidden beach, walking as we did, or by small boats that are provided by the services of the shores along the coast.

La località balneare prende il nome dall'arco che può essere visto tra le rocce, che incornicia la piccola spiaggia all'interno. Ci sono due modi per raggiungere questa spiaggia nascosta, camminando come abbiamo fatto noi, o con piccole imbarcazioni fornite dai servizi dei lidi lungo la costa.

We spent our days on the beach between this resort and the coasts of Praia a Mare. We have limited car trips trying to explore the area next to us as much as possible.

Abbiamo trascorso le nostre giornate sulla spiaggia tra questo resort e le coste di Praia a Mare. E abbiamo limitato i viaggi in auto cercando di esplorare l'area vicino a noi il più possibile.

PRAIA A MARE - Buddha Beach

A few minutes from San Nicola Arcella, we visited Praia a Mare, a town located along the coast. Where there are some of the most beautiful beaches, and where the summer nightlife is hosted.

A pochi minuti da San Nicola Arcella, abbiamo visitato Praia a Mare, una cittadina situata lungo la costa. Dove si trovano alcune delle spiagge piu belle, e dove viene ospitata la movida estiva.

Being the only tourists at that time of year we were hosted for free in the bathing facilities in every place we went.

Essendo le uniche turiste in quel periodo dell'anno siamo state ospitate gratuitamente all'interno delle strutture balneari in ogni posto in cui siamo andate.

This is the Buddha beach, one of the newest structures of the area and the most renown bathing beaches. During the day it hosts the tourists on the beach, while at night it organizes aperitifs, and musical entertainment with DJ sets until late at night.

Questa è la Buddha beach, una delle strutture piu nuove delle zona, e delle spiaggie balneari piu rinnomate. Di giorno ospita i turisti sulla spiaggia, mentre di notte organizza aperitivi, e intrattenimento musicale con Dj set fino a notte inoltrata.

We have not had the opportunity to participate because the tourist season, and night events have not yet started, but we have spent the days in tranquility on the beach sunbathing all day long.

Noi non abbiamo avuto l'occasione di partecipare perchè non era ancora avviata la stagione turistica, e degli eventi, ma abbiamo passato le giornate in tranquillità sulla spiaggia a prendere tutto il giorno il sole.

These are just some of the activities that I have photographed and that I can share with you, in these lands of Calabria there are splendid places, and wonderful and warm people. People who have made their strong sense of humanity prevail with hospitality and courtesy, allowing me to leave a piece of my heart, and the strong desire to return as soon as possible and discover much more of these corners of the world that hide a paradise on earth .

Queste sono solo alcune delle attività che ho fotografato e che posso condividere con voi, in queste terre della Calabria si celano luoghi splendidi, e persone meravigliose e calorose. Persone che hanno fatto prevalere il loro forte senso di umanità con ospitalità e cortesia, permettondomi di lasciare un pezzo del mio cuore, e il forte desiderio di tornare il prima possibile, e scoprire ancora molto altro di questi angoli di mondo che nascondo un paradiso in terra.
