Voyage along the river

This weekend We took the boat along the riverside in Kristiansand, and there are a lot to see if you have or rent a small boat. We took some pictures. This is A typical traditional “Snekke”:

Its a small piece of history, where the hull structure, the underside of the overlying planks protrude over the edge of the underlying shelves. This is the traditional Nordic construction technique for wooden boats. Its called a "snekke". i dont know how to translate that word, but im told it comes actually from a russion word.... :P

you see here the inside of a typical "snekke". The engine is usually 10-20 horsepowers only.

This here now, would be an example of a modern “snekke” made out of plastic, with modern facilities like toilett, water, 60-100 horsepower, kitchen stuff, and so on and so forth. Still, its made to emilate the traditional wooden snekke: CA0ED1AF-AD5D-424C-B4A5-2CCB9D581086.jpeg

My favorite is the old traditional ones, but man, theres a lot of maintenance and work with them. If you travel to Kristiansand, take a stroll along the beach/coast, and look out for the "snekke", they sure makes the view more romantic and you can smell the nostalgia:)

Make sure to visit the "open boat museum" which is free and only in the summertime, at Odderøya.

i will show some pictures later
